Progress staff writer The Autauga County Fair, one of only two dozen agricultural-based fairs in the state, will celebrate its 40th anniversary with five days of fun, games, carnival rides and numerous exhibits from local civic organizations, businesses and agriculturists.
The annual exposition will take place Sept. 18-22 at Mac Gray Park. It will also feature competitions for blue ribbons and cash premiums among locals who grow, can or preserve vegetables and fruits, those who put their baking skills up for judgment, and those who indulge in sewing, embroidery, woodworking, quilting and other handicrafts.

Auburn/Opelika A walk along Auburn Avenue, Sweet Auburn, is to take a walk through a living museum of the legendary achievements of Black Atlanta.
A good spot to start in Auburn is the Museum of East Alabama, where there are hundreds of artifacts portraying life in East Alabama and the Southeast from the mid 1800s to the present. The Opelika Historic Railroad District includes the Lee County Courthouse, a working courthouse built in 1896. AUBURN HOTELS and OPELIKA HOTELS.
