DEL MAR – The 2008 San Diego County Fair will open a day late to avoid the tens of thousands of people expected to attend the U.S. Open at nearby Torrey Pines Golf Course.
The board of directors for the 22nd District Agricultural Association, the state agency that oversees the Del Mar Fairgrounds, voted yesterday to hold the fair June 14 through July 6.

He starts Jan. 15. His first event will be the Great Western Livestock Show held the first two weekends of March.
